WEST GEAUGA BASEBALL FIELD
WEST GEAUGA SCHOOLS - CHESTERLAND, OH
After years of disrepair, Behnke Landscape Architecture was called upon to rehabilitate the varsity baseball field at West Geauga High School. The existing field had an awkward fence alignment, uneven grades, persistently wet conditions, a poorly defined sand-clay infield, an undesirable ridge surrounding the infield, and a dated backstop. Behnke’s first leveled the infield and encompassing ridge and then installed a new synthetic turf infield. Per the client’s request, the pitcher’s mound remained sand-clay, with the rest of the infield and home plate being converted to synthetic turf. Drainage and a maintenance plan was devised for the natural turf outfield to correct the previous drainage and natural turf quality issues. In addition, most fencing was realigned and rehabbed to stay within budget.
Construction Cost: $256,000
