OLEATHA WILSON PARK
CLEVELAND, OHIO
As part of an extensive public improvement initiative, the City of Cleveland made significant upgrades to several out-dated city parks, including Oleatha Wilson Park. Working with City of Cleveland Architecture & Site Development representatives and with multiple subconsultants, Behnke Landscape Architecture coordinated all aspects of this project from schematic design through construction documentation. Overall, Behnke was responsible for determining the site design and layout, preparing demolition plans, developing site grading plans, and providing planting plans.
Located in Cleveland’s Union-Miles Neighborhood, Oleatha Wilson Park underwent a complete renovation aimed at improving site accessibility and diversifying recreational opportunities. Prior to construction, the existing park was not accessible from East 110th Street and only contained outdated play structures. The plan for the renovated park provided two accessible routes from East 110th Street and enhance accessibility throughout the site. Additional site improvements included a new splash pad, new play structures and equipment, a new public art piece, a new accessible exercise walk, and new all-weather exercise equipment.
Construction Cost: $1.2 Million
